Right. Coffee. Who's any good around here? I'm not chasing anything exotic. I just want a good one.
So I open the maps. Then the socials. Now I'm scrolling a grid hunting for one photo of an actual coffee, past the brunch, past the latte art from 2019, past somebody's dog. I'm reading a review that turns out to be about the parking. At some point I catch myself genuinely assessing the tiles.
Twenty minutes gone. I know the prices, the vibe and the opening hours. I still know nothing about the coffee. So I pick one and hope, and more often than not, I'm disappointed.
So we did something about it.
Five questions, under two minutes, and you've said everything that matters about the cup in front of you: how it tasted, how strong it was, how it felt, how sweet it was, and what it left behind.
And no, you don't have to be an award-winning barista to answer them. The questions go after your senses, not your vocabulary. Every option is written out in plain English and you pick the one that sounds like what you just drank. Nobody's marking you.
On its own, one person's answer is just an opinion. And we all have biases. However, having all of us answer the same five questions is a different thing entirely: a trusted reputation for every cafe worth knowing about and sharing. Built by our community.
Wherever you find yourself in the world. Every cafe around you is listed, with an Aroamr rating and a Maps rating.

Beautifully sweet, but bold.
Genuinely one of the best lattes I've had this year. The raspberry actually tastes like fruit rather than syrup, and the milk stayed silky right to the bottom of the cup.

We love good coffee, and we back the people making it. When a cafe gets it right, we want everyone to know.
A cafe can't boost its way to the top of your search results, because there is no spot to buy. The only way to top the ranks is by making great coffee and having the community share their collective experience.
Baristas, aspiring connoisseurs and brunch regulars. Same community, united by the love of great coffee.
Join the communityYou've got your favourite roasters. Maybe you only drink batch brew, or you drink a particular brand of oat milk…
Whatever it is, you can search for it, in detail, and see which cafes near you have it available.
Which beats trawling maps and socials, walking in, queueing up and finding out they only do espresso and don't have your brand of oat milk.
Years of guessing, and getting it wrong. So I made this.
My work has me in a different part of Melbourne most days. I'd get a break, want a decent coffee, and lose half the break on my phone working out where to go. Most of the time I gave up and took whatever was closest. Nine times out of ten the coffee was average and a waste of money.
This continual (first world) problem got me thinking…
“Where can I find the people who know where all the good coffee spots are?”
I didn't know where they were, and I had no way of asking them. So I built Aroamr, and now every coffee I have, I share my experience, so the next person doesn't have to guess.
I can't wait to see this community and our local cafes thrive through the Aroamr app.
